Get a Crown When You Need it: Now!

Mar 01, 2015

When you need a dental crown, you need that crown pretty much right away. Of course, we sometimes use crowns to complete cosmetic work, but the bulk of our crown development goes for teeth that need to be restored due to injury, failed fillings, or broken teeth.

Columbia, SC isn’t nationally known for its technological advances like larger, more well-known cities, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have the most advanced options for our patients! We are one of the only dental offices in the area that makes getting a crown so completely easy!

Don’t go to another office where you will have to wait for weeks on end to get your dental crown when we can complete the entire process in ONE APPOINTMENT! How do we do it? With CEREC (CERamic REConstruction) technology!

Not the Way Things are Done in Other Offices

If you were to go to another office in the area, you would be stuck following the old process for getting a crown. Remember, most of our crowns need to be placed right away to protect you from the risk of infection. The traditional process looks something like this:

Appointment 1: Find out you need a crown
Appointment 2 (1-7 days later): Have enamel removed from your tooth, take impressions with messy putty, and have a temporary crown placed over your tooth
Appointment 3 (2-3 weeks later): Return to the dental office to have your temporary crown removed and your permanent crown bonded into place

Does that sound like the necessary process for a tooth that needs to be restored quickly? Sure, a temporary crown offers protection from bacteria and infection, but temporary crowns are not made to withstand all the work your teeth do on a daily basis and are known for breaking or falling out completely!

CEREC Changes the Process

You don’t have to worry about what those other guys are doing anymore because with the CEREC option, your entire crown process just got a LOT simpler and more efficient! Let’s take a look at what you’ll experience here at Total Dental Care of South Carolina!

Your Appointment

When you find out you need a crown, we will schedule your appointment soon after. You will come in and have your tooth prepared for a crown (meaning that we will remove enamel from around the edges to make room for the crown to fit). Once your tooth is in shape, we will use 3D imaging equipment to create a map of your tooth. This gets rid of the need for messy impressions!

From there, we will let CEREC take over. The computer will read the 3D map and will create the perfect crown to restore your damaged tooth. The milling machine carefully cuts from a block of ceramic that is color matched to the shade of your natural teeth. Within a short wait, your crown will be complete, and we can immediately place it on your tooth with permanent cement!

Healthier Teeth

At the end of the day, we want you to have a healthier smile. We want your teeth to be healthy so that you can keep them for many years to come! CEREC allows us to do that for you because the risk of things like infection and root canals drops significantly!

Your damaged tooth is being sealed and covered much faster than it would be in a traditional office, and there is nothing better for your tooth than that!

More Convenient Process

Your health is the most important thing, but a more convenient process is icing on the cake! Your entire process can be completed in a fraction of the time it would take in any other office. Can you imagine having to wait for weeks on end to receive your permanent restoration?

We can’t! Especially not when we know that CEREC is sitting right here waiting for you to ease your schedule and your stress level!
