It’s Time to Get Your Smile in Line

stephenlega • December 1, 2018

This Christmas, don’t forget to do something for yourself.

You’ve devoted much time and energy to helping the people you love. You should do something that makes you feel good, too.

Creating a straight smile could be just the thing. From what we’ve seen at our Columbia, SC dental office, patients feel more confident and smile more when they feel good about their teeth.

At Total Dental Care, you have multiple options for transforming your smile. Dr. Douglas Forbes will be happy to answer any questions you have so you can find the perfect solution for your situation.

To get started, call  803-272-4162  today to schedule a consultation. After all, a smile is a gift that keeps on giving.

ClearCorrect

In dentistry, orthodontics is the area that deals with changing the position of teeth. Traditionally, this has been done with a system of brackets and wires (and sometimes tiny rubber bands). These put pressure on your teeth to guide them where you want them to go.

It’s pretty common for treatments to last between 18 months and 2 years — although some patients need more time.

ClearCorrect is an alternative to braces that many patients prefer.

With ClearCorrect, you don’t use brackets or wires (or tiny rubber bands). Instead, you wear a series of custom-designed plastic aligners. These are transparent, which makes them far more discreet than traditional metal braces.

Each aligner is meant to be worn for a few weeks at a time. Each aligner pushes your teeth closer toward your new smile.

These aligners also offer another clear (no pun intended) advantage over braces. The aligners should be removed during meals. That means you can continue eating whatever you want throughout your treatment. Just remember to brush, floss, and clean your aligner before putting it back in your mouth.

Six Month Smiles

While many patients can complete their smile transformation in about a year with ClearCorrect, it’s possible to cut that time in half with Six Month Smiles.

Now, Six Month Smiles is similar to traditional braces in one sense. This system does use brackets and wires. The ceramic brackets do more closely match the color to teeth, making them a little less noticeable than metal braces.

At the same time, Six Month Smiles can cut your treatment time considerably, so you can see your new smile sooner. With this option, you focus on moving the teeth in the front of your mouth instead of all your teeth. This can produce big changes in the appearance of your smile in a fraction of the time.

For people whose primary interest is the cosmetic improvement of their teeth, Six Month Smiles can help you reach your goal in less time.

Finding the Right Option

Before you make a decision about how you will straighten your teeth, it’s important to talk to a dental professional about your goals and about any concerns you may have. You can get answers to your questions at Total Dental Care in Columbia. Just call 803-272-4162 or contact us online to request an appointment.
